Skygone Private Cloud

Virtual or On-Premise Private Cloud?

Virtual Private Cloud and On-Premise Private Cloud provides dedicated computing resources to support your IT functions; however, there are some fundamental differences that you will want to consider.

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

This is a piece, ranging from very large to very small, of Skygone's Cloud dedicated to you.  "Virtual" simply means that your Private Cloud's physical infrastructure is still hosted by Skygone just like our public Cloud, but with VPC, you have dedicated computing resources rather than sharing computing resources as you do on our public Cloud.

How do we "dedicate resources" to you if they are part of our Cloud?  We use AppLogic's unique ability to completely isolate physical hardware including, servers, storage drives, and even firewalls, to provide you a isolated, yet scalable environment.

How is my VPC environment isolated, yet scalable?  Because your VPC is built with the same technology as our Cloud, you have access to our instantly deployable Infrastructure Templates, the ability to scale resources (CPU, RAM, Storage, etc) inside your VPC (up to the resource limits the physical hardware you decide to deploy to your VPC), and also the ability to add more physical infrastructure to your VPC at anytime.

On-Premise Private Cloud

An "On-premise" Private Cloud is a services-based implementation of our powerful Cloud technology inside your own office or data center that uses hardware, data center infrastructure, and licensing owned by your organization.

This services engagement is followed up with knowledge-transfer, best practices, and maintenance.  Plus, even though your Private Cloud is deployed On-Premise, you still have the ability to push some or all of your applications to Skygone's Public Cloud or Virtual Private Cloud at any time.

The implementation of an On-Premise Private Cloud is a great way to add an enterprise-class, flexible, IT environment to your organization to increase agility, reduce IT management costs, and optimize data center related expenses, without compromising your security practices and internal IT practices.  You can even utilize your existing servers if you wish to keep your new hardware capital costs low during implementation.

The On-Premise Private Cloud gives you full control over the IT policies and procedures that your organization may be required to follow by regulatory or government standards. In fact, On-Premise Private Cloud is a perfect implementation strategy for organizations that are bound by industry standards (i.e. FISMA, HIPPA, etc.) requiring physical hardware audits and administrative compliance.
